01/11/12 - Local 7 has become aware that Shen Yun Performing Arts is soliciting Southern California musicians to audition THIS WEEK for its Touring Company. Local 7 has consulted the AFM Touring, Theater, and Booking Department; there is no AFM agreement with Shen Yun Performing Arts. If you have any questions or are contacted regarding employment/auditioning for this organization, please call Local 7. AFM Bylaws specify that, "No member shall accept employment in any of the following types of work unless the individual, partnership, or corporation engaging musicians for the work has signed an appropriate contract approved by the International President's office: Traveling theatrical orchestras, concert orchestras, concert bands, foreign engagements, seagoing passenger and cruise ships, fairs, circuses, rodeos, and carnivals.
